DATES MODAK / KHAJOOR MODAK / DRY FRUITS MODAK OR LADOO RECIPE

Another of the modak/ladoo recipes that I tried. This one is for all the health freaks one of them whom I have at my home too, my husband.
He doesn't prefer eating sweets and very rarely does indulge in them so when I was making various kinds of modaks I thought why not try one which uses natural sweeteners.

This is again a quick recipe with almost no cooking required.
Dates modak can also be made in the shape of ladoos and serves as a nice substitute for your sweet cravings post meals. It is full of nutrition and energy because of its healthy ingredients and no added sugar.

Dates modak/ladoo can also be had during fasts and they can also be given to kids as a healthy sweet during their snack time.

The quantity of the ingredients in this recipe can be adjusted according to your taste, we just need to bind them together so that we can shape them into ladoos or modaks so the quality of dates also matters some times we get very sticky dates. If you feel the modaks or ladoos have become very sticky just roll them in crushed dry fruits and you will have nice crunchy dry fruit modaks or ladoos.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup dates (khajoor) deseeded and chopped
2 table spoons almonds (badam)
2 table spoons cashews (kaju)
1 table spoon pistachios (pista)
1 table spoon raisins (kishmish)
1 table spoon ghee for greasing the modak mould or for your hands while making ladoos

METHOD

1. Roast the almonds, cashews and pistachios lightly. Do not brown them much.
2. Grind all the dry fruits coarsely. Remove them in a bowl.
3. Add the chopped dates to the grinder and grind them to a paste.
4. Mix the dates paste with the dry fruits nicely.
5. Grease your hands and start shaping into ladoos or if making modak grease the mould and fill the mixture in it to shape like modaks.
